Man Repellent

There's a quote somewhere that says women don't dress for men, they dress for other women - or something like that...I know that's a terrible way to open but you get the idea. Anyways, I think that there is some truth to this. However I've been reflecting about my favorite pieces in my wardrobe more and more recently, and I realized that personally I dress for myself. I am the only person that I'm trying to impress. Sure it's awesome when someone goes out of their way to compliment you on your style, but I go days without hearing a compliment and I still wake up every morning excited to get dressed. As long as I'm wearing something that speaks to who I am, or is comfortable, or I just think looks hot or badass then I'm good!

Today I'm wearing this pair of very masculine, 1940's inspired overalls. They're wool and green and don't accentuate any part of my body in any flattering way but I love them! I know that walking through campus no guy is thinking "hot outfit" haha.. but it's cool, every girl needs a little man repellent in their closet anyways! Just to remind everyone that you've got your own thing going on and at least you think you look good.

 Happy Friday everyone!

Flannel

I don't have much to say other than to tell you I got this flannel dress in the mail yesterday and it has improved my quality of life drastically haha. I'm exaggerating as always but I literally felt like I was in pajamas during class this morning, and that is such an amazing feeling!

Well I really don't have anything else interesting to say...my life is such a mess right now and I'm extremely distracted so even writing this right now is torture. My mind is just so clouded right now so you'll have to excuse me.

Rainy Friday

Nothing incredibly special has happened so far today, but it is Friday and thank the stars & the moon for that! It's been super gloomy (aka beautiful) here in Bellingham this week. Temperatures have dropped and the rain is coming down so I'm a happy girl. Something about this weather makes me breathe better, I can relax, the sky is as sad as I am. Here's what I wore to school today, despite being in a mini skirt I have been surprisingly warm! This alpaca scarf is keeping the smaller parts of me nice and cozy :)

Enjoy your Friday folks!

Business as Usual

As a person who has had this intense relationship with unnecessary guilt & who says "sorry" way to frequently, I really hate starting a post with an apology...but I don't know how else to open when I've taken an unexpected, almost three week, break from uploading. I know most of my readers don't really care either way, but some do and have expressed it - so to you who have waited patiently thank you. I'm not sorry haha..I've been busy!

I turned 25 recently and had to make time for my quarter life breakdown and all the drama that surrounds that. But I'm better now, embracing change and feeling ok with my age and where I'm at in life. In addition to my mental crisis, I also got a new job! It's at this lovely boutique and while I'm having a great time there, the work is consuming all of my energy and I've been feeling a little uninspired and unmotivated because of that. Anyway, I got all dressed this morning for class and then work right after but the greatest thing happened! On my walk to campus my boss texted me telling me to take the day off! As if that wasn't wonderful enough - I sit down at my workspace, check my email and ta-da class is cancelled too! I love a spontaneous free day.

Below is what I wore for all of one hour today (and what I'll be wearing tomorrow when work resumes, let's just be real about that):

This genuine suede skirt was a $15 find at Goodwill...man I love those.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far!
